Indiana Candy Store in the Running to Be the Best in the Country by USA Today
Voting is now open to find the best candy store in the country by USA Today, and one of Indiana's oldest candy stores is in the running.
Old-Fashioned Candy Making
With how society has become modernized to put quantity over quality, the method of old-fashioned candy making seems like a dying art. In some ways, it is. We don't see candy stores opening too often that utilize the old school methods of hand-making candy like we used to.
I think that's a big part of the reason independent candy stores that still utilize these methods are such treasures. USA Today is looking to find the best independent candy store in the country, and one historic Indiana candy store is in the running!
Schimpff's Confectionery
The Schimpff family has been making candy in the Jeffersonville, Indiana area since 1871. G.A. Schimpff’s Confectionery officially opened in 1891 and is one of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. And the coolest part? The Schimpff family still owns the store to this day. They continue to make the classic candy that you know and love to this day, and even have a candy museum.

Schimpff's Confectionery is now getting recognition on the national stage. They took to Facebook on May 12th to announce that they had been nominated by USA Today to be in the running to be crowned the best of the best!
