Baseball and pythons. Not really things that you associate together. Unless you attend a game at a southern Indiana baseball team's historic field this year. (Yes, this is real!)

They say that baseball is America's favorite pastime. If you have ever been to a game before, you know that it's a very fun time, especially at a Dubois County Bombers game. The team, which plays at historic League Stadium in Huntingburg, always hosts fun and unique themes and events at their games. The stadium alone is worth visiting, as it played home to the Rockford Peaches in the 1992 hit movie, A League of Their Own. Over the past few years, the team has garnered a reputation as having the craziest, funniest, and most fun promo nights in all of baseball.

Speaking of promo nights at League Stadium. A couple of days ago, the team announced another promo night that might be a first in the history of baseball, and I don't know how to feel about it.

It's no secret that I am very afraid of snakes. That being said, I do understand there are some benefits to keeping them around. However, if I were to see one in my yard, I would instinctively run away. I want nothing to do with those nope ropes! If you are as terrified of snakes as I am, let me ask you this...what would you do if you were attending a baseball game surrounded by pythons? Well, that could very well be the case at a Dubois County Bombers game this year!

Dubois County Bombers: 'Bring Your Emotional Support Python to the Game Night'

I don't know who runs the Dubois County Bombers marketing and social media, but they need a raise for the iconic, creative, and hilarious posts throughout the year. A couple of days ago, the Bombers announced that on Friday, July 25th, they will be hosting quite the unique game at the ballpark—an evening where you are encouraged to bring your emotional support python to the game. You can't make this stuff up!

Here's what the post says:

Finally, a baseball game where you and your emotional support python can enjoy America’s pastime together! On this very special night, anyone who brings their own python gets FREE admission (what a steal!). Don’t have a python? No problem! Our friends from Animal Tales LLC will be at the game, bringing exotic creatures from around the world—including birds, reptiles, mammals, and amphibians—for kids (and mildly concerned parents) to see and touch. It’s baseball, it’s bizarre, and it’s the only night where carrying a massive snake around the stadium is strongly encouraged.

Can you imagine going to a game like this? Personally, I don't think I would make it through the first inning without having a panic attack with all of those large snakes around me. My wife, on the other hand, would go just to see the snakes. If you do have a python, you get into the game for free. One commenter on the post shared a picture of his python and the Bombers replied by saying "Free admission if you do (and free beer if you wear it around your neck like a chain during the national anthem)." I'm not sure if that's a joke or not, however, it's hard to tell with their witty posts.

While I might not be attending this game because of my fear of snakes, I have to hand it to the Bombers for their creativity and humor. It's not just this post that offers quite the laugh, pretty much every single post on their Facebook is worth the read. If the games are as entertaining as their social media, seeing the Bombers in action this year is a bucket list item!
