From deer to waterfowl and everything in between, there's a lot to hunt in the state of Indiana.  If you aren't a hunter yourself, there's a good chance you know someone who is as it is a popular hobby for many Hoosiers.  While you probably know that if you want to hunt need to have a hunting license, did you know that if you were born after 1986 you will also need to complete a course in Hunting Education?

Hunting Education Course

In Indiana, if you want to hunt, it is required to complete a Hunting Education course if you were born after December 31, 1986.  These courses teach the fundamentals of hunting from gun safety to hunter ethics.

Indiana Hunter Education Courses will provide instruction in the areas of safe firearm use and handling while hunting, as well as in the home, hunter ethics and responsibility, game identification, and conservation management. Anyone born after December 31, 1986 is required to be certified in Hunter Education before they can purchase a hunting license.

According to Indiana DNR, you can complete the hunting course online or in person, if you do it online you will need to pay a fee.  However, the course is free if you complete it in person.
