What is the Hottest Day on Record in Kentucky?
The heat in Kentucky isn't going away anytime soon, but just be glad that it's not going to be as bad as the hottest day in Kentucky history!
It's no secret that it has been hot all throughout Kentucky this summer. We have had multiple days where parts of Kentucky have been under Heat Advisories. We are talking about days where the heat index values have been between 105 to 109. On top of that, the humidity has been miserable at times. When it comes to summer 2025 in Kentucky, the heat has been brutal all around, but it's still not as bad as the hottest date on record for Kentucky.
Hottest Date on Record for Kentucky
When we are complaining about the current heat and the heat to come this summer, let's just be grateful that it isn't as hot as it was in 1930. Especially in Greenburg, about 82 miles south of Louisville. On July 28, 1930, Kentucky recorded its highest daily maximum temperature when Greenburg's temperature hit a searing 114 degrees Fahrenheit, according to records maintained by the National Weather Service.

Keep in mind that this was before air conditioning was available for most homes in the country. That means you couldn't even beat the heat inside because it was likely to be even hotter in your home! In case you were wondering, I found a video of the warmest cities in Kentucky on average. You can check it out below.
In the meantime, as we battle this miserable heat in Kentucky, be safe, stay hydrated, and know how to protect yourself against the summer heat!
