These yummy gummi candies are from the Hoosier State.
Candy Making
Candy making is truly an underestimated art form. There are candies of all kinds, and different types of specialties when it comes to candy making. One popular type of candy is gummy candy. Gummy (or gummi as it's sometimes spelled) candy is defined as candy that is made from gelatin.
Lang Geek defines gummy candy as:
Gummy candy is a type of candy that is made from gelatin, sugar, and other ingredients, such as fruit juice or flavorings. The candy is typically formed into small, chewy shapes, such as bears or worms, and comes in a variety of colors and flavors. Gummy candy can be soft or firm, depending on its formulation, and is often coated in sugar or other toppings, such as sour powder.
Just hearing "candy made from gelatin" may not sound the most appetizing at first, but don't knock it until you try it, because gummy candy is delicious and comes in a variety of flavors. One popular gummy candy brand is made right here in the Hoosier State!
Today I Learned Albanese Candy is Made in Indiana
When it comes to the candy aisle at the store, there is one bag of candy that always stands out, and that's the Albanese gummies. The signature white and red packaging makes it hard to miss. If I have a hankern' for gummi bears (which happens often) I will always grab for the Albanese bag first (especially if that bag is of the chocolate-covered gummi bears, because my goodness, those are next level). I don't know why I gravitate towards the Albanese gummies, other than I just like them. Well, it turns out, maybe my Hoosier senses were tingling, because I recently learned Albanese Candy is based in Indiana!
Indiana Made
The Albanese Candy company is headquartered in Merrillville, Indiana, which is also where their factory that produces all of the sweet gummi goodness and chocolate we know and love is located.

They've been around for more than 40 years, but notably in 1998 they created a new technology to allow for greater flavor release from gelatins, and in 2001 they came up with a way for sour to be added inside of a gummy, and they launched the "starts sour, stays sour" slogan.
