If you are a native of Evansville, there are a couple of things you know. 1) People on the west side think people on the east side are uppity, cake-eating rich people. 2) People on the east side think people on the west side are a bunch of inbred hilljacks who live in cornfields. But, despite that "friendly" division, I think we can all agree that if the city had an official potato chip, it would be Bar-B-Q Grippos, specifically those you get in the white box because they seem to have more BBQ coating on every chip compared to those you get in a bag. The blend of BBQ spices has become such a favorite, the company started bottling it and selling it so fans could mix it into hamburger patties, sprinkle it on chicken, or maybe just pour it straight into their mouths. I'm not here to judge.

A couple of years ago, in mid-to-late 2019, they took that same BBQ spice blend and coated cheese puffs with it for what I believe to be one of the finest cheese puffs you can eat. Fast forward to today, and the company is once again expanding the lineup of products featuring their signature spice with the announcement of Bar-B-Q Cheese Flavored Popcorn.

The company, which already makes regular cheese flavored popcorn, announced the new product on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon (April 13th, 2021) saying it was currently available for purchase at their plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. However, the post went on to say it, "will soon be available wherever you find the rest of your favorite Grippo products!" That of course would mean nearly Evansville-area grocery and convenience store.

The question now becomes, "when exactly will we be able to get our hands on it?" Unfortunately, the post doesn't say that. It's also not available to buy through their website at this time. My guess would be sometime late-spring or early-summer, so hopefully, within the next few weeks, you'll be able to find it on a grocery. If you spot some, let me know.
