Former Third Day Front Man Mac Powell to Lead Worship in Evansville this Weekend
Back when I was in college, my favorite Christian band was Third Day. Powerful lyrics and their own sound set them apart. Their music sounded like mainstream music and if you know much about the Christian genre, sometimes faith-based music can be put into a very tight box. Pioneers like Toby Mac and now Lauren Daigle have also busted out of the box but Third Day always had a folksy sound and the lead singer's voice felt like warm golden butter - smooth and rich.
When I saw that Patrick Garcia, the lead pastor of The Hills Church in downtown Evansville, posted on Facebook that Mac Powell and the Family Reunion was leading worship this Sunday, I was kind of floored and super excited! Admittedly, I haven't kept up much with Mac Powell since the disbanding of Third Day. (Don't tell anyone but I still listen to Christian radio even though I work in secular radio but since I left working in the world of Christian music I admittedly don't keep up with Christian artists as much.) So, I checked out his website Mac Powell and the Family Reunion and turns out he's made a country album. Super excited!
To hear Mac Powell and the Family Reunion this weekend, check out either The Hills service at the Old National Events Plaza Sunday at 9AM & 10:45AM at 715 Locust St. in Evansville, IN!
