Ford Recall Alert: Vehicles Could Move Forward in Reverse
Ford has issued a recall for several models that you need to be aware of before an accident happens.
Whenever you hear of a vehicle recall, it doesn't seem like something that will cause much concern. However, there are several times when a company will issue a recall for vehicles over matters that could potentially lead to something dangerous. This is one of those examples. Ford Motor Company has issued a recall affecting 269 vehicles. This issue is certainly one that leads to cause for concern, as it leads to a potential issue where affected vehicles could drive forward while in reverse.
Ford Recall Alert
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford Motor Company's recall of 269 vehicles is due to a potential transmission valve body defect that could lead to unexpected vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash. The transmission valve body in these vehicles may have been machined incorrectly, which could result in reverse gear failure or unexpected forward movement when the vehicle is in reverse or neutral gear.

The following vehicles are being recalled as a part of this issue:
- 2024-2025 Ford Bronco
- 2025 Ford Explorer
- 2024-2025 Ford F-150
- 2025 Ford Mustang
- 2024 Ford Ranger
- 2025 Lincoln Aviator
If you have one of the vehicles listed above, you will want to avoid driving it as much as possible until you can get it repaired. If the vehicle were to move forward while you’re trying to reverse, you could hit a wall and damage your vehicle. Not to mention, if you leave your car in neutral, you might roll into traffic or hit a pedestrian. Either way, it's not something that you will want to deal with.
What to Do Now
Ford dealers will replace the transmission main control valve body at no cost to the vehicle owners. Notification letters are expected to be mailed May 5, 2025. Vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information. The recall number for this issue is 25S19.
On top of this recall, Ford has also recalled nearly 1.3 million F-150 trucks. You can learn more about that recall below.
