FINALLY…Taco Bell Is Bringing Back Mexican Pizza This May
After a nearly two-year hiatus and countless complaints, a longtime favorite is returning to the Taco Bell menu.
Remember in 2020 when the world was furious at Taco Bell for removing multiple menu items including potatoes, spicy chicken, and Mexican Pizza? Yeah, those were some dark times. However, Taco Bell saw the error in its ways and eventually brought back potatoes to the menu in 2021. Still, thousands were begging and pleading to have Mexican Pizza back on the menu.
Why Did Taco Bell Discontinue Mexican Pizzas?
When it comes to getting rid of the famous Mexican Pizzas, Taco Bell said that it was part of their eco-friendly commitment. According to Fox 59, the packaging for the Mexican Pizza amounts to more than 7 million pounds of paperboard per year. While it's honorable to want to be more eco-friendly, that still wasn't a good enough excuse to many for them discontinuing Mexican Pizzas.
There were even 200K+ signers of a Change.Org petition, spearheaded by superfan Krish Jagirdar begging for Taco Bell to bring back Mexican Pizzas. Now, Taco Bell has finally decided to give in and bring back this long-time favorite to their menu.
Taco Bell Bringing Back Mexican Pizza This May
The fast-food chain announced earlier this week that your cries have been heard and they will be bringing back Mexcian Pizza for the first time since 2020. According to a press release:
“Our menu is full of fan-favorites, but the Mexican Pizza is at the top of that list,” said Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell. “From its flashy introduction to menus in 1985 as ‘Pizzazz Pizza’ to its inspiration behind the creation of infamous jingles, Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand and I’m glad we could give fans what they crave and bring our classic Mexican Pizza back home where it belongs.”
Mexican Pizza will be back on Taco Bell's menu starting on May 19th. This time, the team at Taco Bell has taken measures for the pizza to "leave a lighter footprint" on the enviornment.
