The Smoky Mountains

I don't know about you, but it seems like lately, the mountains have really been calling my name! I haven't been back to Gatlinburg in 3 years, and that's just too long! In my personal opinion, the Smoky Mountains are the perfect place to go for a getaway.  First of all, the Smoky Mountains aren't too far from the Tri-State, Gatlinburg is about a 6-hour drive.  It's the perfect distance for a long weekend. Also, there is SO much to do!

I love that if I feel like taking the day sightseeing and doing all of the fun touristy things, I can do that along the main strip in Gatlinburg.  However, if I want to feel secluded, I can spend a lazy day at a cabin in the mountains (my personal favorite thing is to rent a cabin near Gatlinburg).   But if I want to soak up some stunning nature views, I can pack some food and my comfy hiking shoes and head into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and walk some trails.  It's just the best place to vacation.

Smoky Mountains Fall Foliage

Another reason the mountains are so popular in the fall is because of the incredible sights. It's always such a neat sight to see the trees change to bright colors in the fall no matter where you are, but seeing those fall colors along the Smoky Mountains is truly next level.

So if you're planning on heading to the mountains in the fall, you'll want to try to book your stay during peak fall foliage. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting this year's fall foliage to peak in Tennessee from October 12th through the 28th.

I've been to Gatlinburg in October once, and it was my absolute favorite! Happy (almost) fall!!
