EVSC Taking Donations for Teacher’s Locker School Supply Resource
My wife has been a teacher for nearly the entire 20 years we've been together. Over those years, we've used our own money to purchase supplies for her classroom I couldn't tell you how many times. And she's not alone. While parents help by purchasing supplies for their kids before the start of the school year, and the schools do their part to keep supplies on hand throughout the year, sometimes the demand outweighs the supply and teachers have no choice but to take matters into their own hands and out of their own pockets. Fortunately for teachers in the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, they now have a place where they can get those supplies at no cost to them, and you can help.
The EVSC announced the opening of the Teacher's Locker earlier this week, a "store" where teachers can come by and pick up supplies they need for their classrooms. The supply of supplies are provided by donations from local businesses, education-based non-profits, and people like you and me.
The store is located on the backside of the Academy for Innovative Studies at the intersection of Diamond Avenue and Stringtown Road. The same building that's home to their student clothing resource, Hangers.
Organizers are looking for a wide range of supplies including "notebooks, pencils, pens, paper, glue, scissors, markers, paint, art supplies, decorations, calculators, staplers, binders, and more." A complete wish list can be found on the EVSC Foundation website.
