
Evansville Generosity Powers Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Success
The Salvation Army of Evansville recently wrapped up its annual Red Kettle Campaign for 2024, which featured an exciting challenge for donors near the end. Now, it's time to see how much money the community raised.

Every year, The Salvation Army dusts off their famous red kettles and bells to visit area storefronts and collect funds. The money raised each year goes directly back to the community by providing groceries for families in need, funding for utility bills, and so much more. In essence, the Red Kettle season is a critical time for the organization to prepare for the coming year. So, how did the 2024 Campaign go? (Spoiler alert: very well.)
Salvation Army Evansville Red Kettle Results
During the final week of the 2024 Red Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army of Evansville announced that over $63,000 was available to be unlocked as part of a new matching challenge. The 5-to-1 match for all large-bill kettle donations encouraged last-minute shoppers to drop $20, $50, or even $100 bills into Red Kettles to see their gifts multiplied by five. On Jan. 15, the organization was pleased to announce that they surpassed the goal for the match. Almost $15,000 in large bills and $24,000 in smaller donations were collected, unlocking all of the matching funds. Altogether, The Salvation Army was able to raise over $102,000.

It takes a lot of work to raise that kind of money. In a press release, The Salvation Army expressed its deepest appreciation to all volunteers, donors, and store partners for making the Red Kettle Campaign possible. Captain Brandon Lewis, Corps Officer & Southwest Indiana Area Coordinator for The Salvation Army, added that the effort is not only deeply appreciated but also demonstrates how much Evansville cares for its neighbors.

"These dollars ensure that vital programs and services for those in need are able to change lives throughout the upcoming year.
