The Evansville Police Department are investigating an robbery that involves Arby's, apple pies, marijuana, and a hand gun...only in Evansville.

According to our media partners at Eyewitness News, there was a robbery at Arby's on First Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. However, all the suspect stole were...apple pies? Again, only in Evansville...

The employee working drive thru last night when the suspect pulled up to the intercom to order apple pies. Why the man didn't want a Beef N Cheddar and some curly fries, is beyond me, but I digress. When the suspect pulled around to the winder, the worker spotted two guns in the passenger seat. This is where things get interesting, folks...

According to Eyewitness News, "the suspect then asked if they could give the restaurant a bag of marijuana in exchange for the apple pies." The suspect must not have been aware that marijuana is not common currency in this area. Anyway, the report goes on to say that the worker walked into the kitchen to alert the other employees and to tell them to hurry up with the apple pies. During that time, the suspect began to hit the drive thru window.

When the employee returned to the window, the suspect pointed a black revolver at the worker. As if this story wasn't odd enough, it gets weirder. According to Eyewitness News:

EPD said before the suspect left, the worker told him they smoke too and wanted his number "for a hook up". The suspect did give his number to the worker before pulling away.
According to the police report, the vehicle was described as a dark, four door passenger vehicle.
So the dude who stole the apple pies was "smart" enough to give the employee his number? That's a bold move...or dumb move depending on how you look at it. I mean the suspect did say, in the report, that he wasn't afraid of "cops or snitches." Not that I condone robberies, but do you remember back in the day when people stole money? Nowadays, we have criminals out trying to steal a 99 cent apple pie? Jesse James would be rolling over in his grave!
The investigation is still ongoing and there is no word yet on if the EPD were able to identify the suspect based on his phone number. We will keep you updated on the Evansville Apple Pie Bandit situation!
