Don’t Use This Body Soap in Indiana if You Love Mosquito Bites
Did you know that the type of body soap you use could make you more prone to mosquito bites? Me neither.
I don't know about you, but I always have a BAD mosquito problem in my yard. I can't even walk outside for two minutes without having to swat those pests away. It's a nuisance that nobody wants to deal with. Maybe you have tried citronella candles while sitting on your patio. That helps some. Perhaps you have lemongrass or peppermint plants in your yard to help keep the mosquitoes away. Somehow it seems that they are all only so effective. One thing that you can do, according to a recent study, to repel those dreaded mosquitoes is simply change up the kind of body soap you use.
That's right, your body soap could be attracting mosquitoes. Last year, we shared a story with you about what type of scented body soap repels mosquitoes. You can learn more about that by clicking here. Now, let's talk about the type of body soap that you want to avoid using...unless you strangely love getting mosquito bites.
Avoid This Type of Body Soap if You Want to Keep Mosquitoes Away
According to a study by Virginia Tech, washing your body with certain types of soap changes how mosquitoes are attracted to you. This study looked at brands like Dial, Dove, Native, and Simple Truth. The results of the study showed that floral scented soaps are the ones mosquitoes seem to flock to.
Basically, mosquitoes like plant-nectar, so any type of scent that is similar to that could cause mosquitoes to be more attracted to you. It could also "confuse their decision-making" meaning they could mistake your scent for plant-nectar itself. So, if you use a floral soap and find you are always being swarmed by mosquitoes, you may want to switch things up, especially if you are planning on being outdoors.
Speaking of being outdoors with mosquitoes, did you know that the color of the clothes you are wearing can attract mosquitoes while others tend to have a more repelling effect. It's true. You can learn more about that by clicking here. We also have a couple of hacks that you can try to keep mosquitoes away. These include a DIY mosquito trap idea that you can try out, changing your body soap could keep mosquitoes away, as well as a DIY beer mosquito repellant too.
