When you think about big names in Tennessee tourism, you probably think of Gaylord Entertainment, of Gaylord Opryland fame, and Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain theme park, Dollywood.  The two have now come together for a one of a kind experience in Nashville.Dollywood and Gaylord have entered into a working agreement to build a new water and snow park adjacent to the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville.  In the summertime, the park will have many high energy water rides, then during the winter, it will hold snow activities.  This park will be the first of its kind in the United States.

Visitors from around the region, including the Tri-State still remember the days of Opryland Theme Park which was closed to make way for Opry Mills Mall which still sits mostly closed since the 2010 floods.  While Opry Mills is set to resume operation this Spring, this park should be a perfect mix for not only summer guests of Gaylord Opryland Resort, but to cater to the thousands of guests that come to experience Christmas At Gaylord Opryland.  I for one am SUPER excited, and so is the birthday girl, Miss Dolly herself.

"I'm so excited about this opportunity," Parton said. "I am confident that partnering my Dollywood Company with a great company like Gaylord will create something truly special. We're all working on new types of entertainment to do in the daytime and nighttime for the whole family so we bring new folks to the area year round."

The park is scheduled to open in the spring of 2014.
