Mind-Blowing TN Attraction Feels Like It’s in Another Dimension
Have the January doldrums set in yet? You know, they don't have to. I'm finding that more and more events are happening in the coldest month of the year than ever before. (Granted, February MIGHT have an argument.)
And that's good. We need something to break up all this cold dreariness. I recently saw where Dollywood has closed for the season, and that's when winter REALLY hit home. But that hardly means Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smokes aren't ready for visitors this time of year, even IF they have something more pressing to deal with at the moment.
This too shall pass, and we wish all the crews in east Tennessee all the best as they deal with multiple weather events.
But back to one of the things that makes this region so special. Most off-season closures last months, but not here. And in some cases, very popular attractions don't HAVE an off-season. One of those is Astra Lumina, an extraordinary display of lights unlike anything you've ever seen...unless you've been to another Astra Lumina attraction. You can also find them in Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York City.
Just to make sure, after seeing that post date from October, and yes Astra Lumina is open and waiting for your arrival. And yes, Briana hit the nail right on the head. It DOES put you in the mind of Avatar.
If you're not familiar, Astra Lumina is an add-on experience with your visit to Anakeesta, one of Tennessee's most popular theme parks.
So what ARE these Lumina Night Walks? Their creator, Moment Factory, sums it up for us:
The Lumina Night Walks are a series of unique outdoor immersive experiences. Each Lumina Night Walk is a luminous journey that reveals the exceptional beauty of a natural site. They use seamlessly integrated multimedia to immerse visitors of all ages into an imaginative world and to spark emotion. Natural sites are enhanced through an artful and innovative multimedia transformation that establishes a site's second identity, helping to maximize the potential by extending economic activity beyond sundown.
In addition to the four here in the United States, there are nine in Canada, two in France, and five in Asia.
But you don't have to go NEARLY that far to enjoy, well, an out-of-this-world experience--that's what it would feel like. You just need to head to Gatlinburg TN, and I doubt anyone needs to twist your arm to do that.
