City of Evansville Extends Free Leaf Pickup for Residents
Good news if you live in Evansville and haven't raked up all those leaves laying in your yet. The City is giving you a little extra time to take care of it and still have them pick up for free.
They've extended the service an extra week, giving you until Friday, December 20th (2019) to have your leaves ready to go. According to the City website, the service "is available to city residents who pay for trash service with their Evansville Water and Sewer Utility bill, including newly-annexed areas."
A few important things to know from the City's post:
- Leaves must be contained in biodegradable plastic or paper leaf bags or in containers, and they must be placed in manageable, organized piles on the same day of the regular trash service pick up.
- Bags and containers must be kept separate from the normal weekly trash.
- Bags should be placed at the pick-up location before 6:00 a.m. on the normal days of collection.
- Leaves not in biodegradable bags that do not meet these requirements will not be picked up.
One more thing to know, especially if you live in an apartment complex, mobile home community, unfortunately you're not eligible. Although my guess is the maintenance crew in those areas probably take care of leaves for you anyway. Business and commercial customers are also not eligible.
