“Charlie Bit My Finger” Will Be Deleted from YouTube This Month

One of the most-watched videos in YouTube history will be gone for good later this month.

One of the first videos that I can remember watching on YouTube was "Charlie Bit My Finger". We've all seen it. A cute toddler has his baby brother, Charlie sitting on his lap. He sticks his finger in Charlie's mouth, and the rest is internet gold.

With over 880 million views on Youtube since 2007, "Charlie Bit My Finger" has become the most viewed viral video of all time. However, time is running out for you to view it because, on May 23rd, the infamous video will be deleted off of YouTube. and auctioned off as an NFT.

I have heard a lot on social media about these NFTs, but I had no idea what an NFT even was. After seeing the news about "Charlie Bit My Finger", I figured I should probably learn about NRT.

NFT is short for non-fungible tokens. These are a new type of cryptocurrency that transforms digital works of art and other collectibles into one-of-a-kind, verifiable assets that are easy to trade on the blockchain, according to CNN.

In this case, the video will be auctioned off as an NFT, and the winner of the auction will be the sole owner of this internet phenomenon. According to the family behind the video, after the auction, the video will be removed from YouTube and the new owner will be able to keep it in its new form as a 1/1 NFT. The NFT winner will also get the opportunity to create their own parody of the video featuring the original stars, Harry and Charlie.
