Brooks & Dunn Join Lanco for ‘Reboot’ of ‘Mama Don’t Get Dressed Up for Nothing’ [Listen]
Brooks & Dunn have released another of the new tracks from their upcoming album, Reboot. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn invited Lanco to participate in the sessions for a new recording of their classic hit, "Mama Don't Get Dressed Up for Nothing."
"'Mama Don't' is a straight-ahead, rockin' kind of thing, and we kinda just pumped it up a little bit," Brooks says in a video posted to Twitter, adding that Lanco frontman Brandon Lancaster added a lot more than just his voice to the track.
"We did a couple of takes, and we're just sitting in the room, and he picked up a guitar and he did this little cool descending riff on the acoustic, and Ronnie picked up on it immediately."
Why Did Brooks & Dunn Break Up?
Brooks & Dunn co-wrote "Mama Don't Get Dressed Up for Nothing" with Don Cook, who also co-produced the track with them when they originally recorded it in 1996. The song reached No. 13 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart when the superstar duo released it as the third single from their Borderline album in 1996.
"Mama Don't Get Dressed Up for Nothing" is one of the tracks included on Reboot, which also features re-imaginings of more of their classics with artists including Kacey Musgraves, Jon Pardi, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Thomas Rhett, Brett Young, Luke Combs, Ashley McBryde, Midland and Brothers Osborne. Reboot is set for release on April 5.
Brooks & Dunn joined Musgraves onstage for a surprise appearance at her one of her recent sold-out shows in Nashville on March 1, performing "Neon Moon," which they re-recorded with her for the new album.
