BREAKING: CDC & FDA Recommend Pause in Johnson & Johnson Vaccine
I know a lot of people in the Tri-State have already received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Teachers jumped at the chance to get the one & done shot. As of today, Tuesday, April 13, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S Food and Drug Administration have recommended pausing the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Why the Pause?
Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST) Blood Clots have appeared to be a serious side effect in some patients. The information from the CDC and FDA states that this is rare, and only six patients have been reported so far. I will go out on a limb and say there will be more. One of my co-workers had the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and is now dealing with a serious blood clot in his leg.
What if You Have Symptoms?
If you have any side effects, you should let your doctor know. Health care providers will then alert the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.
Some Side Effects
- severe headache
- abdominal pain
- leg pain
- shortness of breath
We are expecting to find out more later today during a press conference with the CDC and FDA.
The FDA, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, protects the public health by assuring the safety, effectiveness, and security of human and veterinary drugs, vaccines and other biological products for human use, and medical devices.
