Boys & Girls Club of Evansville Opens for Fall & Winter Programs
The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville has been such an important part of our community for so many years, but I feel like their services and programs are more important now than ever before.
I don't think we can overstate how the events of this year have affected our young people. Some folks might think that it's been great for kids - it's been like an extended summer vacation. I'm not sure that is the case for a lot of kids. We need to remember how important it is for youngsters to interact with their friends and peers - to have some place to go and have something to do. The Boys & Girls Club has always been able to provide that place and those things. Even during the pandemic, with all the shut downs and quarantines, the club has worked hard to find ways to help kids in the community.
Now they're ready to open their doors again for the beginning of their fall and winter programs. Obviously there will be some changes to the way things have been done in the past - that's to be expected.
Shanna Groeninger is the Resource Development Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville, and she was our guest on the MY Morning Show. She explains how these new programs will work, and what kids and parents should expect when they come to the club. We also talk about the importance of continued monetary donations, especially considering their annual Stock the Pantry event, their biggest fundraiser of the year, was canceled. Take a few minutes to listen to our interview and then please help the Boys & Girls Club if you can.
