I know that I can't be the only parent who is going crazy with things like this!

So, I am the Brand Manager for a pretty big radio station here in the Evansville area. A big part of that responsibility is to listen to the station as often as possible to make sure that everything sounds good. However, I must admit that I have not been able to do that outside of work hours. Why? I'm glad that you asked. As bad as it sounds, I don't listen to the radio in my truck anymore. Not because I don't want to or I don't like what we play on our station. The truth is, I have a toddler who will be two next month, so when I am in my truck, we listen to what SHE wants to listen to.

I Can't Be the Only Parent Who Deals with This, Right?

Parents, you get this, right? Kids, especially toddlers, don't want to hear the music that you want to hear, typically. If yours does, I commend you. However, most of the time, toddlers want to listen to toddler songs. You know, songs like "Baby Shark," Ms. Rachel songs, Disney songs, and other music like that. It's no secret that when you don't play their songs in the vehicle, they will either beg, cry, or demand until they get their way. It's a lot easier to drive with a toddler in the car when they aren't being fussy, so playing their music and giving in just saves you a big headache at the end of the day.

That being said, does/has your toddler had a fascination with a certain song that they have to hear on repeat? That one song that just makes them happy, and they sing along to when it's on. My daughter, for the past week or so, has wanted to hear one song, and it's the most obscure song you'd think of. I was burning up some PTO time last week, and the number of times that I had to play this song just to make her happy was astonishing.

The Song that My Daughter is Obsessed with is... Weird (and Kind of Annoying)

If you have ever seen the movie "Minions," you might be familiar with the very beginning of the movie. Before the opening credits, the Universal Studios logo is displayed. Rather than the traditional Universal Studios song playing over that, this movie features the Minions singing that tune as only the Minions can.

That's the song that my daughter wants to hear on repeat. It's only about 30 seconds long, so just imagine how many times that is played on a car ride with her....and then double it. She's become so obsessed with what she calls "Onion Song" because she can't say the word Minions correctly, so I have had her request "Onion Song" while we are just playing in the living room. So, since I'll do anything to make that girl smile, I sing it as if I were a Minion myself. #DadLife

Okay, Maybe It's Not So Bad

While it can drive me crazy at times, and I miss listening to the music that I love, seeing her happy and singing...regardless of if there are actual lyrics or not...makes me smile. It may not be the music that I enjoy listening to, but she loves music just like her Daddy does. That's why I will play and sing "Onion Song" as much as she wants. So, what's that song that stands out to you that your child had to listen to over and over to the point where it got annoying, but their reaction when playing it was worth it every time?
