Back to the Future Movie Night Planned in Downtown Evansville
Get ready to go Back to the Future and "save the clock tower" with the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse. Happening October 1, 2021, this family-friendly movie night will have you shouting "Great Scott!"
Admission to the moving showing will be strictly donation-based with the proceeds going to benefit the Save the Clocktower campaign. According to the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse Facebook page,
After 130 years of presiding over the Evansville skyline, our clock tower is in need. This past decade has seen the revitalization of our Courthouse, but one of the last large areas requiring restoration is the bell, bell tower, clock faces and and clock tower. While still structurally sound, all have reached a point of deterioration where repairs are necessary.
Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse plan to show the movie on the Court Street lawn, across from the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. It is only fitting that the move being shown will be Back to the Future. You may remember in the movie that Doc and Marty must utilize the lightning strike at the courthouse clock tower to power the time-traveling Delorean to get Marty back to 1985.
The movie night on the lawn of the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse will take place on Friday, October 1, 2021 and will begin at 6pm. Again, admission is donation based. If you plan to attend, you are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. You are even encouraged to dress in your best outfit from the 1950s or 1980s. If you want to make it dinner and a movie, food trucks will be on site the night of the event too.
