Autism Evansville Hosting 3rd Annual Night Out for Special Needs
Every year, on the first Tuesday in August, Police officers, Fire Departments, and first responders throw a going-away party for crime, and it's called National Night Out. This is a fun community event, but it can also be loud and overwhelming for kids who have sensory issues.
Great Opportunity to Meet Heros
Autism Evansville is hosting an event that is similar to the Night Out with police and fire departments, and first responders, but in a smaller, and more controlled environment for families that have children with sensory issues or special needs. The response to this event has been great. It's a sensory-safe way for kids who have autism spectrum disorder to interact with officers and firefighters.
Bring the Whole Family
I love that Autism Evansville events always include the family and the siblings. Everyone can participate and have fun while respecting others' space. In fact, siblings are encouraged to socialize with each other. Feeling included can go a long way when it comes to understanding how the rest of the family feels.
Red Carpet Treatment
If your children are okay with getting their picture taken, there will be photo opportunities on the red carpet.
