Do you think you can guess which Indiana cities are among the dirtiest cities in America?

Have you ever driven through a city in Indiana and thought "Woah! Either these people are hoarders, or they believe that littering makes this place really stand out?" Well, it certainly makes that city stand out, but not in a good way. All of this pollution can come with a bad reputation and even deem the city as a trashy or dirty city. I saw a recent study the other day about the dirtiest cities in the United States. The list features the top 303 dirtiest cities in the country, and out of all the cities, five of those cities are found in Indiana. Chances are, you might be able to guess a few of them.

Indiana Cities Named Among the 'Dirtiest Cities' in the US

Before I reveal Indiana's dirtiest cities, it's important to define what makes a city dirty. LawnStarter ranked 303 U.S. cities using 20 different environmental and public health metrics. Categories included pollution, living conditions, infrastructure, and my personal favorite — resident dissatisfaction. As reported by thetelegraph.com, the data came from sources like the EPA and U.S. Census Bureau. So basically, the higher the score a city received, the dirtier it is.

Given all of that information, the first Indiana city that came to mind wasn't the one that was listed in this study. I don't want to say which city I thought it would be because I'd hate to offend anyone who lives there. However, I'm sure the majority of people reading this might have thought about the same city. On the flip side, it was nice to see that South Bend, Indiana, ranked as the least dirty city in America, so that's some good news for Indiana. However, South Bend, along with four other Indiana cities, did land on this list. Thankfully, none of them were near the top of the list of dirtiest cities, but the fact that they are still on there is still not the best thing. Let's find out which Indiana cities ranked among the dirtiest in the United States.

16 Indiana Towns with Dirty-Sounding Names

A majority of these towns were given their names in the mid-to-late 1800s as settlers making their way across the country found unclaimed plots of land and decided to make them their own. While I imagine they thought the names they came up with were innocent, and perhaps a tribute to something in their lives, pop culture has warped our minds to the point since then that we can't help but think of something about the town that was never intended by its founders. Take a look at this list. I guarantee there's at least one name that will make you chuckle.
