Say it isn't so, but a report today on aol.com says that after 23 seasons, 'The Simpsons' could be cancelled. This is one of the longest running shows in TV history, and I believe the longest running animated show ever. As usual, Fox and the actors are in 'tense' contract negotiations with the network saying they have to cut production costs and they are proposing a 45-percent salary cut for the cast. Now, before you feel too sorry for the cast, keep in mind that each one of the key actors makes about $8 million per year. Those cast members include Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azari and Harry Shearer.

The cast said they would be willing to take a 30-percent pay cut in exchange for some of the show's back-end profits which amounts to billions for Fox. There are two possibilities for Fox, replace the actors with cheaper ones or cancel the show altogether. Fox makes billions off the show and would actually make more after it ends. Many people think the show has been on way too long while others say they couldn't imagine life without the Simpsons. Either way, these people have made a fortune voicing a cartoon character and a pay cut would not be the worst thing ever. Afterall, they would still be making at least $4-million a year which isn't exactly chump change........as Homer might say, 'stupid economy...DOH'. What do you think, is it time to say goodbye to the Simpsons?
