A new report from AccuWeather claims that southern Indiana will have a very snowy winter ahead. Here's everything you need to know.

If you're like me, you loathe winter weather. When you are a kid, it's cool because when it snows a lot (well, a lot for Indiana), you get the day off and enjoy playing in the snow. When you are an adult, you don't get that luxury. You are still expected to get out of that mess and drive to work. Add those frigid cold temperatures to the list of reasons why I am not a fan of winter. Now, I realize that we are finally starting to get out of the heat of summer and into fall-like temperatures here in southern Indiana, but winter will be here before you know it.

Earlier this year, the Farmers' Almanac said that Indiana and the Ohio River Valley will receive a "very cold, snowy" winter and will experience a "classic winter wonderland" this year. You can read more about the Farmers' Almanac and their winter prediction for Indiana by clicking here. While this is simply a prediction of what "might" happen, another winter forecast seems to say something pretty similar.

AccuWeather Indiana Winter 2025-26 Forecast

AccuWeather's long-range forecast is predicting quite the snowy winter for southern Indiana. This is a map showing what parts of America will see above-average snowfall. You see that dark blue shade over southern Indiana? Yeah, that represents above-average snowfall. That means more snow days for the kids, and more hectic commutes to work for us adults.

As if the snow wasn't bad enough, you know that frigid cold temperatures are also a reason to despise winter. Another map from AccuWeather shows exactly how cold of a winter we will have in southern Indiana. Unfortunately, it looks like we are in for a winter with below-average temperatures.

I think it's important to keep in mind that this is simply a prediction, and no amount of fancy technology, atmospheric tracking, or whatever they use to create this forecast is 100% accurate. As we know all too well, the weather is wildly unpredictable and can change in an instant. However, if this prediction is correct, it's going to be quite the winter in Indiana. You can take a look at the full forecast in the video below.
