You Can See Life-Sized Moving Dinosuars in a Cavern in Kentucky
You and the family can be surrounded by life-sized dinosaurs underground in a cavern in Louisville, Kentucky.
Louisville Mega Cavern is one of the largest caverns in the United States. Hence why it's called the "Mega" Cavern. If you've never been there before, there's so much more to it than just walking through a giant cave. They have the world's only fully underground Zip Lines & Adventure Tour (MEGA ZIPS), the world’s only fully underground aerial ropes challenge course (MEGA QUEST), a 10-stories-underground Historic Tram Tour (MEGA TRAM), the largest indoor bike park in the world (MEGA BIKE PARK), a guided e-bike tour (MEGA E-BIKES), and of course, Lights Under Louisville, the world's only fully underground holiday light show. This February, another cool event will be taking over the cavern.
Dinos Under Louisville
Louisville Mega Caverns will be taken over by dinosaurs beginning in February and will be roaming the cavern until April. According to their website:
Visitors will venture under Louisville to uncover 80 life-size moving dinosaurs on a gripping 20-minute adventure through more than half a mile of Louisville Mega Cavern’s underground passageways. As visitors travel through Dinos Under Louisville, they enter a wormhole and are suddenly transported back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth! Guests will enjoy an epic adventure alongside the “live” dinosaurs as guests drive through the cavern, experiencing the Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous time periods and the extinction event that ended the time of dinosaurs on the planet. Right before their eyes, dino lovers of all ages will see dozens of colossal dinosaurs as they take over Louisville like never before.
Here's a look at a similar event held at Louisville Mega Caverns in 2021:
One cool thing about this event is that it is produced by a guy named “Dino” Don Lessem. This guy has written 40 books on dinosaurs. According to Louisville Mega Cavern's Facebook, he is "responsible for excavating and reconstruction the skeletons of the largest meat-eating and plant-eating dinosaurs in the world from the desserts of Patagonia. In honor of his work, the dinosaur “Lessemasarus” is named for Mr. Lessem."
Not only that, but he was the dinosaur advisor to Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park! That's pretty awesome, right?!
