You Can Find a Fairy House Hidden in the Tennessee Forest Near Gatlinburg
Now, this would definitely be a fun place to hike to!
The Perfect Place to Vacation
Let's be honest, the Gatlinburg area is the perfect place to vacation. My husband and I have spent a few vacations in the Gatlinburg area, and it's even where we got engaged. It's perfect because you can enjoy the fun, touristy things like the main strip that's lined with restaurants, attractions, distilleries, and plenty to do.
It's also perfect because if you want to get away you can drive a short distance and be inside the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and there's SO much to do inside the national park. My husband and I like to load up a cooler with sandwiches and snacks and head out to the different trails. We've even found a ghost town hidden inside the park (more on that here).
Hike to the House of the Fairies
There's a trail you can hike that will take you to a "fairy house" in the forest. So what is the House of the Fairies exactly? Well, it's actually an old stone spring house. According to TheSmokies.com the property where it sits was once purchased by a man named Louis Voorheis in 1924 and he owned the property until he passed away in 1944. During that time he built many structures on the property, one of which is still standing and has been dubbed the House of the Fairies.
It's called the House of the Fairies because one look at it, and you can easily imagine small woodland fairies living inside the stone structure. Who knows, maybe you'll even catch a glimpse of one yourself!
