You Can Buy A Candle That Smells Like the ‘Death Star’ from Star Wars
As a longtime sci-fi fan, I'm always looking for new Star Wars-themed items with which to decorate my home and office space. Currently, I have an assortment of coffee mugs, action figures, framed posters, and even a few lights scattered around here and there. However, one company has unveiled some new Star Wars-style household goods that I will definitely be adding to my shopping cart before they're out of stock.
In honor of May 4, a.k.a. Star Wars Day, several organizations and companies are offering Star Wars-themed products. Homesick Candles is among that group, as they have started selling candles that are supposed to smell like things from Star Wars. Some of them are extremely unique. I have no idea how the candle maker went about creating these scented candles, but one thing is certain: these are not your every-day fragrances.

Millennium Falcon
The Millennium Falcon is perhaps the most recognizable ship to Star Wars fans, being that it was captained by Han Solo and his Wookie companion known as Chewbacca. This candle is supposed to smell like the ship, but if you want to get a whiff, it's going to cost you about $75.00, which is the most expensive in the collection. This one also looks smaller than the others, which I found odd. Homesick says this candle contains top notes of leather, smoked tobacco, and dark bourbon. Here is the description:
Don’t be fooled by the shabby exterior, this legendary freighter is built for light speed. Notes of rusted steel and leather waft as your next galactic adventure begins.
Endor
Endor is a planet featured in the Star Wars universe that is home to some pretty ferocious but cuddly-looking bear-like creatures known as "Ewoks." The planet is essentially one big forest, which is likely what this candle smells like. Homesick says this one contains notes of wild fern, pine needles, and sandalwood. Luckily, it's much cheaper than the Millennium Falcon, with a price tag of $44.00. Here is the description:
Wild fern and pine needles silently fill the dense woodland as Ewoks forage between mossy trees. Floral accents rise from the forest floor, met with the rush of passing speeder bikes. Pssst... Burn to reveal a secret on the back of the candle label!
Tatooine
Another planet featured in the Star Wars Saga is Tatooine, which is perhaps the heart of the franchise, being the home of the Skywalkers. This particular planet is one big desert, and I'll admit, the scents contained in Homesick's Tatooine candle are fascinating. It contains notes of manak leaves, juniper, and dune grass. This one is also $44.00. Here is the description:
Invigorating notes of Juniper and desert shrub rise from cooling canyons amidst the endless dunes. Bask in the binary sunset as Luke landspeeds across dusky plains. Pssst... Burn to reveal a secret on the back of the candle label!
The Bounty
The Bounty is part of Homesick's Mandalorian Collection, containing notes of desert sands, volcanic ash, and pineneedles. It's definitely a unique blend of scents, but I feel like these should have been featured in the Tatooine candle, being that it's a desert. However, I have not smelled either candle, nor have I smelled the fictional planet, so the scent is probably as spot-on as your imagination will allow it to be. This one also checks in at $44.00. Here is the description:
Winds whirl with sand as notes of ash and smoke reveal dark intentions on Nevarro™. The scent of deep woods forge an unbreakable bond in this inspiring forest escape.
The Rescue
The Rescue is the other half of Homesick's Mandalorian Collection and also features a price tag of $44.00. This candle contains notes of sea moss, foggy air, and cedarwood. Of all the items on this list, I feel like I would like this one the most, but the Millennium Falcon is a very close second choice. Here is the description:
Sea moss cradles a crash landing in Trask™. A new warrior brings hope, cutting through guaiac wood from desolate swamps. Mountain air refreshes his resolve in this final mission.
The 'Death Star'
The capstone of this set of candles is probably The Death Star, which is an enormous space station featured in the very first Star Wars film that was released. The Death Star candle contains notes of cement, tobacco, and leather. It costs about $44.00, which means you could get the whole collection for $295.00. Here is the description:
Bolts of smoked amber and forged steel rise from clashing lightsabers, filling vast chambers of cold cement with electric notes. Leather and black myrrh tempt you to the Dark Side. Pssst... Burn to reveal a secret on the back of the candle label!
