WKDQ Teacher of the Month Winner for February 2024
99.5 WKDQ has teamed up with Liberty Federal Credit Union to show one teacher in the Tri-State each month that the work they're putting in for their students isn't going unnoticed.
Teachers put in a lot of work to make sure their students have all of the tools they need to learn and succeed in life. We want to make sure that we honor those educators here in the Evansville area who sometimes don't get the recognition that they deserve. That's why we, along with Liberty Federal Credit Union have partnered up to have you nominate your favorite teacher in the Evansville area to be named the WKDQ Teacher of the Month.
WKDQ Teacher of the Month February 2024
The January 2023 WKDQ Teacher of the Month is Krista Meyer, an upper school math teacher at Evansville Day School. Krista received some very heartwarming nominations from folks she knows, as well as parents of students who really show that she was beyond deserving of being named the WKDQ Teacher of the Month. Here's one that puts it all into perspective.
"Mrs. Meyer is a fantastic teacher that not only engages her students in day-to-day math concepts but teaches them to be excited and passionate about math through her hand-on learning approach. She truly demonstrates what happens when you believe children can succeed and boost their confidence by creating and inspired background. Mrs. Meyer retired a few years ago and just recently returned to the school. My 8th grader went from getting a D in math the previous year to getting an A in math this year because Mrs. Meyer is teaching the \why\" of math and not just the memorization part of math. She creates inquisitive learners who are passionate about HOW math works. She is an amazing and positive influence on the students she teaches. We love her! She should be celebrated for loving and teaching students to be confident learners!" - Kristin Wintner
To nominate your child's teacher, simply fill out the form below with your name and contact information, along with the name of your child's teacher, the school they teach at, and a brief reason for what makes them special and why they deserve the recognition. At the end of each month, we'll select one entry as our Teacher of the Month and hook them up with a bouquet of flowers from Zeidler's, along with a $50 gift card to the Copper House restaurant on Franklin Street personally delivered by myself, Leslie Morgan, and Travis Sams as a small token of your appreciation.
