A new study was released about the safest states in the country. Where do you think Indiana landed?

When you think of Indiana overall, you don't really associate it with crime. Sure, criminal acts happen all of the time, but that's not typically the stereotype that goes with Indiana. I mean Indiana isn't even one of the top ten most dangerous states in the country. That being said, we still see so much on the news about crime, and the increasing amounts of criminal activity across the state. It makes you stop and take a look at your area and wonder how safe it actually is.

All of that being said, WalletHub just released its ranking of the safest states in America for 2024.  WalletHub compared the 50 states across 52 key safety indicators grouped into five different categories. Their data set ranges from assaults per capita to the total loss amount from climate disasters per capita to the unemployment rate. The top five safest states for 2024 are as follows:

  1. Vermont
  2. New Hampshire
  3. Maine
  4. Massachusetts
  5. Utah

So, Indiana didn't make the top five, clearly. Where did the Hoosier State rank on the list then? Let's find out.

Where Does Indiana Rank in the Safest States of 2024?

Indiana ranked just shy of the top ten safest states in America, coming in at number twelve on the list. The state received a  Personal & Residential Safety rank of 12, a Financial Safety ranking of 43, a Road Safety rank of 13, a Workplace Safety ranking of 8, and an Emergency Preparedness rank of 29.

I'd say that this is a pretty reassuring ranking for Indiana. To be ranked that high on the safest states in America is really refreshing. For an in-depth look at the safest states in America for 2024, you can click here.
