If you have listened to Leslie and I for any length of time at all, you know I am a huge fan of candy corn and Leslie hates it. How can anybody hate candy corn?? The flavor is so unique, oh so sweet and almost kind of buttery and just plain fun to look at. Candy corn is it's most popular at Halloween, but anytime is a good time for some candy corn in my book, winter spring, summer or fall...it's all good!

Candy corn has been around since the 1880s and was created by a genius named George Renninger of the Wunderlee Candy Company. It's a very simple recipe consisting of mainly sugar, corn syrup, carnauba wax, artificial coloring and binders. Yes, carnauba wax is an actual ingredient, which for the most part is flavorless and safe along with marshmallow for a soft bite. Also, the best part is that candy corn has zero grams of fat per serving, which is defined as 19 pieces. Each serving however, does contain about 140 calories.

It is estimated that about 20 million pounds of the colorful goodness are sold every year. The Brach's Candy Company is the top selling brand of candy corn, selling enough to circle the world about 4.25 times if the kernels were laid end to end.

The color of candy corn is unmistakable featuring a white tip, orange middle and  yellow end that is supposed to resemble a kernel of real corn, but a kernel of candy corn is actually three times bigger than a real corn kernel.

What you may NOT know about candy corn is the white tip is actually the bottom of the kernel and the yellow end is the top. So, if you are like me and eat the white tip first, followed by the orange middle section, then finally, the yellow base, you are actually eating it upside down....who knew??

Candy Corn now comes in several different flavors and the Caramel Apple is the BOMB!! It tastes just like a caramel apple...really!! Candy Corn is also very versatile and can double as a Pay Day candy bar when eaten with peanuts. Simply take a handful of candy corn and a few peanuts, pop it in your mouth and you have a Pay Day...it's awesome! What other candy impersonates other candy?? You want some right now, don't you?
