Vince Gill Celebrates 50 Years In Country Music With Special Release
Country Music Troubador Releasing New Music
It's hard to believe, but it's true, Vince Gill has been in the country music industry for 50 years. To celebrate this milestone, the country music legend has announced quite a treat for his fans. As part of a series titled "50 Years From Home", Gill will be releasing 12 EPs in 12 months (EP stands for Extended Play and essentially means the recording is longer than a single but shorter than a full album). He has already released two of them, the first titled "I Gave You Everything I Had," which dropped on October 17. The second came out on November 14, titled "Secondhand Smoke". So far, the collection has contained all new music with a scattering of re-releases or re-records of previously released songs. For example, the first EP release includes an extended version of his tearjerker, "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Additionally, he's releasing a specially recorded podcast with each release. Gill said he had a treasure trove of songs he never recorded, and felt this was a great way to honor his career and the music, all at the same time. In a recent interview with Charlie Worsham, Gill took the time to discuss the new 12 series EP and go into detail about the new music:
