The Vanderburgh Humane Society will provide shelter and aid in finding permanent homes for at least 12 dogs that were displaced by Hurricane Maria that devastated Puerto Rico.

The VHS is working with the Humane Society of Indianapolis to provide care and housing for the dogs.

According to the press release from the VHS; "Approximately 120 animals will arrive at the Indianapolis Regional Airport (KMQJ) around 9:00-10:00 pm Eastern time and a team from IndyHumane (Humane Society of Indianapolis) will unload them. The animals will then be divided between the receiving organizations which includes the Vanderburgh Humane Society. The Humane Society of the United States spearheaded and organized this transport."

When the dogs arrive at the VHS, they will be placed in a separate holding kennel until VHS staff can process them and place them up for adoption.
