The Vanderburgh Humane Society is celebrating their 60th anniversary with free ice cream, hot dogs, kids' activities, and behind-the-scenes shelter tours. The VHS has been serving Evansville and pets for 60 years, and they want you to celebrate with them with an Ice Cream Social. The social is sponsored by Nomad Technology Group and Pet Supplies Plus. Join us Saturday, June 24th from 11:00-4:00 at the VHS.

The event is free to the public and will be held rain or shine. Feel free to bring kids and leashed pets! Door prices will be awarded. Over 300 animals will be there for adoption or just for viewing.

The VHS serves more than 10,000 animals every single year, in three different states; making it the Tri-State's largest animal welfare agency. For those who have not seen their "new" facility, which was built in 2004, this would be the perfect chance to check it out and ask the staff any questions you may have. They offer many services that not many know about. Come by and learn about how and what they have been doing to serve the Tri-State for the past 60 years.

"2K Fetch" tickets are available for $10 each. Each ticket purchased corresponds to 1 of 250 numbered tennis balls. A shelter dog will "fetch" one of the tennis balls for a chance to win $500!

The Vanderburgh Humane Society is located at 400 Millner Industrial Drive, 47710. Only 2 blocks west of Bosse Field/Garvin Park.
