Tyler Hubbard Helped Write New Jake Owen Song, ‘Something to Ride To’ [Listen]
Jake Owen released not one, but two new songs on Wednesday (Feb. 28). In addition to the single (hear "I Was Jack (You Were Diane)" here) is "Something to Ride To," a heartbreaking ballad co-written by Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard.
Owen just needs to feel better about love, and he thinks a song that he can listen to while he drives around will help — something that doesn't remind him of his ex.
"All I really need is a catchy hook / No poetic words from a fancy book / No lines about love and forever / Just something that will make me feel better," he croons.

Hubbard wrote the song with Corey Crowder and Josh Miller, and the track was produced by Joey Moi. In a press release announcing his new music, Owen raved about working with Moi in the studio.
"It's been revitalizing. Making music with Joey is all about recording songs that reflect who I am," Owen says. "I've seen the negative side of life and the positive side — and I really like the positive side. I want my songs to put a smile on your face."
"Something to Ride To" leans into the downsides of a breakup, and it's unfortunately relatable, but even for Owen, who divorced in 2015.
"Come on now, small town DJ / She really broke my heart / And I'm just driving down this highway listenin' in the dark," he sings at the close of the song.
With a new label deal, a new tour recently announced and new songs he's ready to take on the road, Owen is in a very happy place these days:
