Where did former University Of Evansville Basketball coach Marty Simmons wind up after being relieved of his head coaching duties here in Evansville? In case you couldn't hear over the explosion of the arrival and departure of Walter McCarty, Marty went to Clemson.

He became special assistant to his old buddy Brad Brownell, the head coach at Clemson.

Marty and Brad had coached together at UE in 1991 and '92. Brownell is from Evansville and played high school basketball at Harrison High. So how are things going with Brownell's ClemsonTigers? There were some very strong points this season when Clemson knocked off Duke and Louisville and beat North Carolina on the Tar Heels own court for the first time in most Clemson fans lifetime. BUT the Tigers  will need to win the rest of their regular season games and win a difficult ACC tournament to get a bid to the big NCAA dance (they are 15-13 as of March 1). They made a big move in that direction with a one point victory over #6 rated Florida State on February 29. Many Clemson fans missed the high points of this past basketball season when most of the media attention was focused on Clemson's football team and their run at the national championship.
