Want to save money at the gas pump? You first need to know the best day to fill up  your gas tank.
According to USA Today, the fuel savings app called GasBuddy, did a study of the best day to fill up and the worst day to fill up nationwide and in each state. As far as nationwide goes, Monday is the best day to fill up, while Friday is the worst day.

What makes these days the best and worst days to get gas?

According to USA Today:

"Very early in the week, when gas stations are generally a little bit quieter traffic-wise, is a great time to fill up," said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "We generally see more volatility and higher prices later in the week."

USA Today also says that it's best to fill up in the morning on Monday since some prices tick upward in the afternoon. Gas prices are typically higher on Friday because most stations try to make more money ahead of weekend trips that customers may have planned. USA Today also mentioned that people who only fill up their gas tanks on on Friday could save $20 to $30 more year by switching to Monday. That's a pretty interesting fact!
