St. Louis is always a popular spot for a day trip or short vacation. There are so many family-friendly experiences that are also pretty affordable like the St. Louis Zoo. There will be another exciting reason to visit if you like to get up close with the animals.

All-New Destination Discovery Experience Planned for the St. Louis Zoo

The Henry A. Jubel Foundation gifted the Saint Louis, MO Children's Zoo a $15 million gift for the Destination Discovery exhibit. Zoo representatives tell us that this will bring a dynamic experience to the children's zoo. There will be new and innovative ways to learn about animals.

Guests of all abilities will be able to experience close-up encounters with animals and their caretakers in an immersive hands-on learning environment. There will be two different paths to get through the exhibit.

Michael Macek, Saint Louis Zoo Director

Guests, young and young at heart, will have the opportunity to explore the underground tunnels dug by prairie dogs, splash alongside flamingos, and walk through an aviary. Guests will learn all about animals being part of families and communities just like us. No visit to Destination Discovery will be the same for guests. We plan to have spontaneous keeper chats and surprise animal experiences, like macaws flying overhead.
