Illinois Haunted House Opening For Two Days in May to Celebrate Halfway to Halloween
Sure it may be springtime, but it's never too early to get into the Halloween spirit!
Halfway to Halloween
The official halfway point from last Halloween to Halloween 2024 is right around May 1st. Many folks (including myself) are big fans of the Halloween season and love to count down to it each year. It's the time of year when the air starts to get crisp, leaves begin to change, and stores are filled with spooky decor.
My dad was always a big fan of decorating for the holidays, and when I was a kid we were the only house on my street that always had Halloween lights and decorations outside. I think this is part of the reason I love the season so much, it brings back some really fond memories. Plus it's also fun to have an excuse to dress up in a costume!
Haunted Houses
A staple of the Halloween season is haunted houses. In the Evansville-area we have a few great haunts that really know how to put on a good scare. Unfortunately, you have to wait until October to enjoy those haunts. However, if you want to get your Halloween fix in the springtime, one haunted house in Illinois has just the fright you're looking for.
The Old Joiliet Haunted Prison
Located in Joliet, Illinois is the Old Joliet Haunted Prison. Now this isn't just a prison-themed haunted house, this haunt is located inside an old prison, which definitely ups the creepy factor.
Chicago's ONLY Haunted House inside a real prison, brought to you by Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group. Halloween Lives Here!
The Halfway to Halloween event will take place on May 3rd and 4th.
