Southern Indiana and Illinois Could See Light Icing Thursday
Dear Mother Nature, please make up your mind.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah, Kentucky is forecasting the possibility of freezing rain early Thursday morning which obviously could lead to slick roads and difficult driving conditions on your commute to work or school.
According to the seven day forecast, we'll have a 30% chance of rain Wednesday night after midnight as the temperature dips to right around freezing, followed by "freezing rain likely" before 9:00 a.m., then a mix of freezing rain and regular rain between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. before finally shifting to regular, non-frozen rain after 10.
Here's the impact the NWS believes it could have:
The good news is that what we do get won't be too major with the Indiana counties only seeing anywhere between a hundredth to a tenth of an inch, while a few counties in Illinois could see up to a quarter inch. However, any amount could lead to slick spots on roadways, which would make the morning commute to work or school a little treacherous.
