Shy Cat Becomes Sweet Socialite – VHS Pet of the Week
Allow us to introduce you to this week's Piece of Cake Pet of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society, Kya! See her in action!
Kya - 3-yr-old female tortoiseshell. Surrendered February 27th so she’s one of our longer-stay cats. She was pretty darn upset when she came in and wasn’t very social because of it. But after having plenty of time to adjust, she has turned over a new leaf... starting this week she’s been so affectionate & outgoing, we kept having to check her collar because we couldn’t believe it was her!
She lived successfully with cats and dogs in her previous home. We get that question a lot, about cats having lived with dogs in particular, and we don’t always know the answer so it’s nice to be able to say yes, this cat has lived with dogs!
Adoption fee $40. She’s spayed and ready to go home today.
We now have several litters of kittens in foster care and even a few at the shelter ready for adoption, so the “Kitten Season Please Halp” plea begins now. Foster homes are needed. For kittens by themselves, and also for moms with kittens. Fostering is 100% free. We provide everything INCLUDING food (not all organizations do.) Fostering is also not indefinite with us. The goal is for you to have the kittens as short a time as possible until they can come back to the shelter for adoption — the littler they are, the more people want them. You will not have the same foster animals for years on end.
All the info on fostering is at www.vhslifesaver.org/foster.
