There seems to be more than just students and teachers roaming the halls of Quincy Junior High School.

Ghost Stories at Quincy Junior High School

I didn’t have the pleasure of attending QJHS, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t heard the ghost stories that have been circulating in Quincy for years. It’s an amazing, beautiful building—and whether you’re driving by or lucky enough to step inside, it gives off that old castle vibe. But like any good castle, it comes with a legend… a haunting.

The Quincy Junior High Ghost Legend

As the legend goes, a student once hung himself in one of the bathrooms after being dumped by his girlfriend. Each year on the anniversary of his death, students and teachers claim to hear footsteps, crying, and faint mumbling coming from that very bathroom.

Why Old Buildings Feel Spooky

I’ve asked several friends who attended Quincy Junior High School if they’d ever heard the story or experienced anything strange, and they all said no. So, who knows what to believe? We all know how rumors spread—it’s like the game of telephone. By the time the story reaches the last person, it has completely changed from how it began.

My girls have said they’ve never experienced anything unusual while attending the school, but I can imagine that if you were there alone, in such a big, quiet building, you’d be bound to hear a few strange noises. Or at the very least, your mind might start to think you’re hearing things.
