One Time Capsule Turns Into Two

A time capsule was found in the cornerstone of the former Princeton Community Middle School. The contents of that capsule were documented in the Princeton Daily Clarion 111 years ago.

Once the giant cornerstone was flipped over, school officials discovered that it actually contains 2 time capsules! Now, we are told that the contents of the second capsule were not documented as well as the first one, so almost anything could be in it.

No Really, Almost Anything

I kind of jokingly asked if there could be a hand inside of the time capsule. Princeton Mayor Greg Wright says there was a time capsule found many years ago, and it actually had a severed finger preserved in it!

But Wait, There's More

This past week, crews have been demolishing the old Franklin School on the city's South Side. During the demo, yet another time capsule was found. This one does not have any of its contents documented anywhere. Dr. Eric Goggins with the North Gibson School Corporation admits that he is both nervous and excited to see exactly what is in each time capsule.

A Celebration 111 Years in the Making

Mayor Wright did some research and discovered that the first time capsule was dedicated on August 20, 1912. So, Sunday, August 20, 2023, seems like the perfect date to open this amazing piece of history.
