As a child, I vividly remember writing my letters to Santa. My siblings and I would normally write our list of demands—I mean requests—for the big man after decorating the Christmas tree or while watching one of our favorite Christmas movies. It’s one of the many "magical" moments of the holiday season that creates memories to look back on for a lifetime. In 2024, USPS is looking to make that experience even more magical by recruiting the help of the toy store chain known as Toys "R" Us.
Operation Santa Partners with Toys “R” Us
For over a century, USPS Operation Santa has been helping answer letters addressed to Santa Claus through the Postal Service. This has been accomplished in years past by asking people from across the United States to "adopt" a child's letter to help fulfill holiday wishes. Letters addressed to Santa’s official address are published on the USPS Operation Santa website with personal information redacted. Adopters can then select the letters they like and respond with either a gift or a note.
USPS Operation Santa has announced an exciting expansion thanks to its new collaboration with Toys 'R' Us. In 2024, letter adopters will have the option to select and purchase gifts from a specially curated e-commerce site. People can begin adopting letters via the USPS Operation Santa website starting Monday, November 18. The last day to adopt a letter will be Monday, December 16.
How Can My Child Send a Letter to Santa?
The North Pole began accepting letters to Santa on Monday, September 16, but before your child picks up a pen, there are a couple of things you need to know. When it comes to addressing the envelope, make sure you’re sending it to the right place. You can find Santa's official address below:
Santa
123 Elf Road
North Pole, 88888
Additionally, senders will need to include their full name, return address, and apartment number (if applicable) in the upper left corner of the envelope. Furthermore, USPS recommends that senders write legibly, list the gifts they want in order of preference, be specific about the gifts they’re asking for, and avoid requesting gifts that might be too expensive.
