New Wrestling Promotion In Evansville Brings Legendary Names
Over the last two years, professional wrestler, Jamie Dundee has headed up wrestling shows in Evansville featuring Legends of Wrestling. Starting this Wednesday night, June 1st, he branches out to bring a weekly wrestling show to town. The Legends of Wrestling Association will be conducting shows every Wednesday night at The Drunkin Monkee (The Old Woody's West) on Clermont Ave. Don't worry, these shows will be open to all ages and will be family friendly.
Dundee, a former wrestler for WWE, WCW, ECW, and USWA says, "It's a good time for everyone in the family. We're giving Evansville wrestling fans, the kind of show they remember from the days when I was here every week, or my dad was here every week."
Dundee's dad is the legendary "Superstar" Bill Dundee, who, after more than 30 years in the business, still puts the trunks and climbs in the ring. Both the younger and elder Dundees will be in the house for a special 2-day kickoff for the promotion Wednesday and Thursday.
"We will have a 2-day tournament to crown our first champion," Jamie Dundee says, "Our match maker is 'Dirty' Dutch Mantell, and we have some of the stars you'll remember from the past, along with the rising stars of the future."
The Legends of Wrestling shows will return to just Wednesdays after this week, but are scheduled to have at least one or two of the classic stars each week. The real treat should be the new stars working their way to the top, that you may see one day in the WWE or Impact Wrestling. Stars that have already been contacted for the weekly LWA shows include former WWE and WCW superstars, as well as notable stars from the old Memphis teritory that held weekly shows in Evansvile from the 1970's until the mid 90's.
We've seen stars like Jerry "The King" Lawler, The Rock and Roll Express, The Road Dogg, Brian Christopher, Al Snow and more come to town for the Legends shows in the past. Who can we expect in the weeks to come? All I could get Jamie to tell me, "Buckle up, it's gonna be fun!"
