Sunday night's episode of Family Guy took a shocking turn when Brian Griffin, the beloved family dog, was hit by a car and died from his injuries in a major plot twist nobody saw coming. Brian has been one of the most popular characters for the entire 11-year run. The show's producers felt a big change was necessary and that killing off one of the children would have been much more traumatic than killing off the family pet. The problem is that over the last couple of years the show has become more about Brian and Stewie than anyone else and some would argue that Brian WAS the show.

Needless to say, viewers were not happy and Twitter absolutely blew up over Brian's demise. I believe there will be a silver lining in this cloud and we probably have not seen the last of Brian. Even though I am not a big fan of the show, I can't see the show continuing to be successful without Brian and I think we are going to see a 'Dallas' moment.

If you are old enough to remember the 80s and the iconic primetime soap opera 'Dallas', a similar thing happened to one of that show's main characters, when Bobby Ewing, played by Patrick Duffy was killed off in the 1985-86 season. There was such backlash over Bobby's death, the show's numbers began to tank. The Dallas producers did the only thing they could to save the show....bring Bobby back from the dead.....but how?

Simple, the 1986-87 season started with Bobby's widow, Pam (Victoria Principal), finding Bobby in the shower alive and well. Turned out, the events of the previous season were nothing more than a dream that in reality, made no sense whatsoever, but the fans got what they wanted...Bobby was back. Trying to explain that was kinda weird, but they pulled it off.

Look for the same thing to happen with Brian, who was voiced by Seth MacFarlane. I know it sounds far fetched, but I believe it will happen. Brian was too popular and meant way too much to the show. He will be back. Stewie will wake up crying and hysterical only to find Brian sipping a martini like nothing ever happened. What do you think? See Brian's death below.
