Comedian Tim Wilson Dies at 52 – Was a Fixture on Evansville Radio and the Old Funny Bone Comedy Club
Comedian Tim Wilson has died of an apparent heart attack...he was 52. Wilson was a staple on the radio in the Evansville area as a regular performer on The Bob and Tom Show, heard every weekday morning on our sister station, 103 GBF. Wilson was best known for his southern style-humor and for his country parody songs like "Garth Brooks Ruined My Life" and the "First Baptist Bar & Grill".
Wilson was also a regular and local favorite at the old Funny Bone Comedy Club, which used to be located in Eastland Place on Green River Road. It was always a big night when Wilson was in town and usually a sold-out show. Wilson's down-home style made him one of the most relatable comedians on the circuit in my opinion.
I had the good fortune of interviewing Wilson many times over the years and I can honestly say, that I have never met anyone who was quicker with a line than Tim Wilson. No matter what you threw at him, he would immediately come back with a line that would put you on the floor.
Tim Wilson will be remembered by me as not only a great comedian, but a truly good guy. He was one of most approachable, down to Earth stars I have ever met and he will be greatly missed.Thank you for the laughs Tim, rest in peace my friend. If you listen close, you might actually hear the angels laughing. Check out a live performance of the "First Baptist Bar & Grill" below.
