Keep Evansville Beautiful Mascot Evie Sue in Critical Condition
Keep Evansville Beautiful is an organization dedicated to help keeping Evansville's environment clean and friendly by raising awareness about recycling, and cleaning up your city. They have a mascot, the adorable yellow lab named Evie Sue, but after undergoing surgery recently Evie is not doing so well.
Evie is no stranger to the community, often coming out to community clean up events, going out to schools, and teaching kids in the community about the importance of taking care of our city.
Last night Evie Sue had to undergo emergency surgery to have a tumor removed. After surgery she was unresponsive, and is still unresponsive.
At 1:00 today (Feb 3) this was posted to Evie's facebook page
Update as of noon. EVIE is at Oak Hill Animal Hospital (her regular vet)as of 8 a.m. this morning. She is still unresponsive, but is breathing on her own. She is fighting for her life. We have visited with her, but know she needs the rest. It is necessary to keep her on pain meds. Our hopes are that as her body begins to heal that those can be reduced and she will begin to wake up. Her condition is very critical, but we are being pawsitive and are praying. She has angel wings on her fur and has used them for ten years helping others. Our hopes are that our angel will wake up as she heals and come back to us. The outpouring of love, prayers, and support from our community and friends all over the world has been so comforting. Thank you and please continue to pray for her. We will transport her back to the All Pet Hospital tonight and she will remain there over the weekend. We will visit with her and send reports.
My heart goes out to Evie and her family. She and her owners have done so many wonderful things for our community, and we are wishing them the absolute best, and continuing to keep them in our thoughts.
